This was illegal, because according to FWC regulations, if you already own a pet that has been deemed invasive or illegal, you are allowed to keep it until its natural death, and it will not be confiscated or euthanized. Reptiles that are not treated ethically simply do not make good pets.

Like other kingfishers, Blue-eared Kingfishers nest in excavated tunnels – but compared to other kingfishers, these tunnels seem to be quite short with an average length of only 25 cm.
