80% of the national park is covered by forest, 85% of it consisting of Norway Spruce , Silver Fir and the European Beech. There are more than 1100 plant species, the most valuable being the 76 endemics. Other species include Roe Deer (also spotted), Wildcat , European Pine Marten and Otter.

In the Old World, Horned (Slavonian) Grebe breeds in a wide belt stretching from Scandinavia to Kamchatka and it spends winters along sea coasts, from Japan to China and from Norway to France, plus the Adriatic and the Black Sea (west and east of the Balkans, respectively). As a consequence, this species is only a rare vagrant in Serbia.

I therefore finished the year on a high note, seeing quite a few species I scarcely got to see during the previous years. So here they are, my top 10 bird species of 2016, in no particular order except for No. This allowed for my first very nice views at this species since the year 2001, which made me very happy.
