I settled on Wisconsin, which is home to one of the Top 25 NWRs for Birding that I have not visited: Horicon NWR. The range description for Kirtland’s Warbler, I was happy to see, has been updated to include its nesting in Wisconsin and Ontario. The grand total is 817 species! It was actually a very easy count since each species account is one page long except for Red-tailed Hawk and Dark-eyed Junco, which get two pages each.
