In some cases, Hashimoto presents both water color and block print images, such as the block print of a male Wood Duck shown at the beginning of this review, colorfully dramatic, and the watercolor below, more subtle and atmospheric in its use of line and hue. The index lists bird species by whole name, which is less than satisfactory.
