Colorful + Devious = Toucans of Costa Rica

There were birds to watch but they were the gulls and ducks on the river, the sparrows in the fields, the finches that came to the feeder, the beautiful American Kestrel on the roadside wire. Toucans were something else entirely and we couldn’t even see them at the local zoo. Want to see toucans in Costa Rica?

Panama Trip Report: April 2017

Park in the lot across from Summit Gardens and Zoo, then walk across the railroad tracks. Black-bellied Whistling-Duck. Spotted some massive migratory groups at Radisson Summit Hotel and Golf Panama. Seen in groups of 1-4 at Radisson Summit, Pipeline Road, and Summit Ponds. A group in the trees at Summit Ponds.

Birding Shanghai in June 2022

Strangely, the photo accompanying the Wikipedia entry on Collared Finchbills , Asian birds, was taken at Cincinnati zoo. I wonder what Americans would think if, in a Wikipedia entry, a Bald Eagle would be illustrated using a photo taken at an Albanian zoo. The one for bird photographers (a Spot-billed Duck ) is shown below.
