Nearly every dog owner buys a collar for their new pet but few are aware of the long history and many different types of collars. I wouldn't do it to a dog, and I shouldn't do it to a chicken/sheep/cow/pig. There is no question about the motive here: seduce the sheep into believing you care so that they are easier to deal with and easier to lead to slaughter. Tags: Ethics Food and Drink Language. And if justice and nonviolence are your mission, the living "things" you eat wouldn't include beings as sentient as your dog companion. We can argue about where to draw that line all day long, but here are the facts of the case: The "spirit" of my dog companion, Violet Rays, may or may not exist. This is indeed a matter of conscience.

We "traditionally" have applied our social mores in some places and not others, and we should go back to "tradition," which I bet has something to do with continuing to care about our dogs while continuing to feign care for "farm animals," as they're value is as food only.
