An eastern Missouri woman is sentenced to 12 year in prison for neglecting her dogs. Six dogs were seized. Authorities said the animals were infested with fleas and lacked adequate food and water. Tags: animal abuse. The sentence for 46-year-old Tamara Lynn Benscoter of Park Hills was handed down Friday.

Authorities found the dog, a German shepherd mix named Bruce, in a small crate on March 18. Oh, and when they shut the electricity off, she moved into a hotel room without the dog. Tags: animal abuse. I hope this woman rots in jail, but I doubt that will happen in Texas.

An enormous victory was achieved for animals this week when nearly 200 dogs and 54 cats were rescued from a North Carolina animal testing facility that closed its doors after an undercover investigation revealed apparent abuse of the animals by workers at the facility. The county has a contract with R&R Research in Howard City to euthanize the county's unwanted animals. In return, the company can use some of the unwanted dogs for animal research. The animal shelter committee voted to end the contract, but it goes before the County commissioners in April.
