Common Moorhens at Hannover Zoo

Intriguingly, Common Moorhens are also rather common in Germany’s large ornamental city parks and zoos. I am not referring to the one incident when two Carrion Crows at Basel Zoo suddenly descended on a grazing Common Moorhen and ripped it apart for no apparent other reason than joyful play. Beware of Crocodiles.

It seems that quite a few zoos keep Tawny Frogmouths. When these birds breed, this can lead to highly cringeworthy announcements, for example from Adelaide Zoo : “We have egg-citing news!” If I ever have a used car I need to sell, I will definitely ask for their help. I like them a lot, though.
