Common Moorhens at Hannover Zoo

10,000 Birds

Intriguingly, Common Moorhens are also rather common in Germany’s large ornamental city parks and zoos. Beware of Crocodiles.

The return of the Old Man

10,000 Birds

Storks, Ibises and Spoonbills of the World states that “disturbance by local people, tourists, and egg and zoo collectors has similarly reduced the colonies, and more protection is vital”. 15 Australian Birds (Episode 4)

It seems that quite a few zoos keep Tawny Frogmouths. When these birds breed, this can lead to highly cringeworthy announcements, for example from Adelaide Zoo : “We have egg-citing news!” If I ever have a used car I need to sell, I will definitely ask for their help. I like them a lot, though.
