In New York and Chicago, they’ve been pretty mundane—a White-tailed Deer here, an Eastern Cottontail rabbit there. And of course, way too many chipmunks and squirrels and raccoons and turtles to count. We’ve got coyotes in Chicago and its suburbs, but I’ve never bumped into one in the field.

How To Help A Baby Bird

You typically do not find a bird this naked or featherless outside of the nest unless there has been a storm or the nest has been attacked by predator like a raccoon, chipmunk, squirrel or corvids. But maybe this will help you triage the situation when you see a baby bird: This is a very young House Wren. That is probably one of the adults.

Keep finding decapitated mice/rats under car

We do have a possum and a raccoon that live somewhere on the property. Lots of squirrels, chipmunks, deer, rabbits. I've heard someone saw some coyotes about a year ago but I haven't seen or heard them. None of my neighbors have cats and I'm only aware of one dog owner blocks away.
