Don’t Ignore the Barnacles – they’re Real Birds

Here in Suffolk we now have impressive wintering flocks of Barnacle Geese, often numbering 1000 birds or more. The purist birders take little interest in them, regarding them as no more interesting, or exciting, than the flocks of Canada Geese that have long been established in the county. It’s spectacular stuff.

Birding Sweden on the Fly

Ottenby Nature Reserve is run by The Swedish Ornithological Society and visitors can observe researchers collecting data and birds being caught in the mist nest and funnel traps on site. The Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, Denmark (she turned 100 in 2013!). This is truly a bird-lovers dream-destination. How could Norway top this?
