While it is laudable to point out the plight of homeless woodpeckers, this is hardly the right subject for an upbeat bird photo contest. That is an easy trick – capture a bird in a seemingly human pose, just to attract sympathy for the bird. Cattle Egret (Nanhui, China). My wife tells me this all the time.

Unfortunately this place, like all other biodiverse places in the world, is being destroyed and threaten by us, the needy greedy humans. The contrast between biodiversity and human destruction is in plain sight everywhere you go! It is an eye opener which every birder must see before it its gone.

Native species have also managed to make a living in the newly created urban jungle habitat, including Northern Mockingbird , Cattle Egret , Mourning Dove , and Fish Crow. If enough trees are present, Blue Jay and Red-bellied Woodpecker become distinct possibilities.
