Big Tom was the guest most anxious to leave my humble abode and was returned this morning, to a ghost town of a colony, with few cats in sight. Duffy cannot be in a home with a cat. They are a commensal species, meaning that they are a wild animal that lives in close association with humans, not as a pet or as a farm animal but more like a parasite, to the extent that it is hard to find them in truely wild settings, and it is hard to find human settlements without them. It actually hit me, slamming into my windshield.

Prime destinations for seeing African Elephant in the wild include Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Uganda. Black Rhinos are best sought in South Africa, Namibia and Tanzania. In Asia they are even commonly kept as pets!

This thrush actually is among the prey items of the very rare Iriomote Cat, a cat that lives only on a small island. On the other hand, in the West, mice, and rats are also kept as pets, maybe with the same logic. Weirdly, this bird is also described as a common pest in Indonesia, responsible for substantial losses of rice.
