Shorebirds – or “shorbs” for the cuteness factor (as if that needed any enhancement) – remain one of the most fascinating families of birds for me. In fact, a herd of Cape Buffalo spotted us on the shore here and began gradually moving closer.

Birding – An Extreme Sport

Looking left I saw a big, male buffalo behind the bush. Having learned from my Namibian experience I walked away briskly. In my family, we have a tradition (in place since 1347 when we survived the Black Death) of “ wait over the weekend and see what happens ”. It’s such a great place for birds.
