Foreign animals surviving in other climates

In The Last of Us video game, there are two scenes where they show exotic animals surviving in the North American climate. When I say animals, I was thinking more of large mammals (elephants, buffalo, cheetahs etc…) but other animals are welcome except for obviously domesticated ones. The giraffes did not.

They are not necessarily the biggest African animals, but represented those that were considered a real hunter’s worthy prey or “game” – the African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Black Rhinoceros, Leopard and king of the jungle, the Lion (which of course doesn’t inhabit jungle but savanna!).

On this trip, this forced me to participate in a side trip to the nearby Tembe Elephant Park. Pel’s Fishing Owl, where were you? Mostly just oversized grey mammals there, not too many birds.
