In all, 7,820 pounds of food was donated to two shelters renowned for their care of senior dogs: Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco and Castaway Critters in Harrisburg, Pa. This year the Foundation has already raised more than $376,570 against its goal of $1.5 Ashley Niels and Nikki Jeske at I Love Rescue Animals.

This is why I didn't campaign for a greyhound--it raises their profile. Perhaps if there were a heartfelt message followed by action that supported it, no matter what breed were rescued, adoptions would increase. Not to mention the White House is not exactly the optimal environment for a greyhound.) Maybe both.

Their population is in serious decline, so their breeding colonies are monitored by biologists. A biologist, skeptical of wildlife rehabilitation and the potential to successfully rehabilitate these birds for post-release survival/success, brought me some of the “fallout” birds he rescued.

Gazing at Cathy Conheim, a psychotherapist raised to hate cats because they ate birds, and Donna Brooks, a retired physician and sculptor who had never had a cat, but always reached out to heal anyone who was hurting, the kitten eyed them hopefully. Any animal group in the world can use these materials as fundraising tools.

I was a bit surprised to see a juvenile Grey Treepie in Shanghai – it seems too young to already be on migration, and there was an adult nearby, so most likely the species is breeding in Shanghai, along with approximately 24 million humans. Soldiers could probably learn a lot about camouflage from this species.
