We managed to see both species of monkey, though – so we were ultimately well satiated. Crisscrossed by 24″ pipelines transporting oil from numerous offshore platforms, oil companies exercised the strongest presence here. Occasional fly-bys of pairs and trios of Red-bellied Macaws kept us on our toes.

And even though transportation is so easy and inexpensive, prepare to walk a lot. Hundreds massing at Mai Po, many coming into breeding plumage. OK, this isn’t much of a list, but all wild monkey sightings deserve recognition! ). Monkey at a monastery. Plus, taxis are cheaper than you’d expect. 12 Gray Heron.

Below are a few suggestions of sites within the city that can easily be reached using public transport. A pair has been nesting by the roadside for some years, but they are not so predictable outside of the breeding season. There is no transport inside the park and all travel must be on foot. Look out for the Howler Monkeys too.
