Second of all, Lewis’s Woodpeckers are birds of the west and they rarely stray to New York State. So you can imagine our disappointment when we crawled out of the car after our trip to find out that Mike was in fact relaxing in the warm kitchen and had no idea where the woodpecker was! Why is that awesome?

So, how do you find the species account for Kestrel if falcons are not placed between woodpeckers and parakeet? My librarian self is partial to a more strict taxonomic organization, but with no hope that the constant shifting of families will end in the near future, this type of sequence is making more and more sense.

Disturbance on breeding grounds (e.g. Illegal spring hunting and round-ups of moulting birds are taking place on the Russian breeding grounds and illegal shooting continues in Norway.
