If you can recommend a reliable weather god, please pass the information on to me so I can make arrangements with him/her before my next visit here. If I had just this information to go by, I would assume the “Great Parrotbills” to be the name of a Doo-Wop-Band. Among all mammals, I think I like monkeys the least.

I couldn’t help thinking this–me, the anthropomorphism hater– as I watched a pair of Philippine Eagles tend their nest, raise a chick, and tear monkeys apart in Bird of Prey: The Story of the Rarest Eagle on Earth , a well-crafted, beautifully filmed documentary with a mission. The Philippine Eagle has a kind face.

The Telomere does not contain useful genetic information, but rater, acts as a buffer. They used Great T**s from non-urban and urban areas, and mixed them up through breeding, to rule out any possible family history of telomere length. Telomeres are repetitive sequences of genetic material sitting at the ends of genes.

In the breeding season, some 50 species were recorded here, including Little Bittern and Golden Oriole , both unusually easy to see, as well as Ferruginous Duck , Red-backed Shrike and Penduline T**s that bred here this spring – but all I managed to see was their nest ( again ) and not the inhabitants! I have not received any answer so far.

We were met by several Cattle Egret in beautiful breeding plumage feeding on the grass right next to the train station. We also noticed three Whimbrel carrying satellite trackers on their backs and are awaiting information from the bander. If the train did not go all of the way then we took a connecting bus or walked.

Pink Pigeons were once found throughout Mauritius, but by the 19th century the population became fragmented and by 1986 only 12 or 16 pigeons remained, depending on your source of information, less than 12 by 1991.
