At an NYC puppy shelter a few weeks ago, my mind was just about made up when I met Chester – The cutest Lab puppy I’d ever seen. His large pouty eyes, silky fur-coat, and silly little paws on which he fumbled all over the hay-covered kennel, lured me in like a dog to a bone. Don’t let the dog eat your homework.

As their name suggests, they are a rescue group that is devoted to Chinese Crested dogs. They do wonderful work finding homes for this special breed. I didn’t get my first dog until I was 20, but since then I have been making up for lost time. Today I own 40 outdoor dogs and two more who live indoors! Start with easier pets – Many people don’t want to start with the responsibility of a dog or cat. A particularly excitable dog is not necessary.
