First the news, in case you haven't heard: Animal Acres in Los Angeles now has a blog by Philip called Vegan Sanctuary. I placed her in one of my injured wildlife boxes and drive the couple of miles to Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. Check it out! I'm ambivalent every time I bring an animal there and leave a donation.

Years ago, I became a wildlife volunteer and advocate because of a cat who caught a bird. The wildlife center was an hour away if I was lucky. The two most prolific contributors, Pat and Tom, have been sharing their birding space in Costa Rica. The beats have now contributed more checklists than birds. During October, 7 countries (Costa Rica, Australia, USA, India, Hong Kong, UK, Serbia) were birded by 11 beats who shared 135 checklists and noted 697 species.
