So, like a football stadium named after an insurance company, the broadbill ended up bearing a name celebrating a sponsor. The Borneo-endemic Chestnut-crested Yuhina is a cooperative breeder – the vast majority of breeding pairs (97%) in a study conducted here at Mount Kinabalu had helpers.

Rosefinches, Griffons and Woodcocks

But I cannot notice the breeder #2! Eurasian Griffon Vultures are flying towards the restaurant (occasionally visited by Brown Bear , too). My friend Puza comes back from a short walk… and shows me the photos of the more elusive #2: the not-so-common Common Rosefinch , a female. It is somewhere in those willows.

Might I assume that women typically bear fewer children, or fewer survive? In the case of Acorn Woodpeckers, they are cooperative breeders (as with many other polygynandrous species), which seems to predispose species to polygynandry. In this case, they would be exhibiting polyandry.
