Lucky him, right? A Crested Serpent Eagle , looking a bit ridiculous after a rain. This is a juvenile Grey-headed Fish Eagle , unless it is another fish eagle like the Lesser (the lack of any grey head makes me doubt the identification a bit, but it seems juveniles cannot afford a grey head yet).

Head for the sea only when you fully recharge your batteries. To reach Prespa Lakes, from Niki continue through Florina, from there right for Albania and veer right for the lakes. If heading to the Kerkini, two kilometres after the border take the left turn for Serres and drive until you spot the lake on you right hand side.

That, and 10 days back on the way was going to be a great to recharge the batteries after a long round-the-world trip. Right after getting the anchor set, what to my eyes should I see, but several P urple Martins flying above the boat! Right after a couple of quick photos, it was gone, off to more secluded locations.

We chose the Battery Harris Platform at Fort Tilden, along the barrier beaches of the Rockaway Pensinsula in Queens, because it affords a great view of both the bay and the ocean, as well as a wide expanse of dune scrub habitat. Briefly and essentially, it is a competition to see as many birds as possible from one location in one day.
