So that New Zealand would end up with quite a few species of animal not originally found here is hardly surprising of itself. In many ways, that is exactly what happened. Watching them hunt is fascinating. I’ve seen Secretarybirds zigzag after fleeing animals, spreading their huge wings periodically, presumably in an effort to maintain their balance as they twist and turn. When a fire is located they will descend and feed upon small animals that flee the flames. Note the huge wings.
