"The Lazy Naturalist" is a game about identifying animals whose common names reference other animals. I call it "The Lazy Naturalist" because it's as if whoever named the animal couldn't be bothered to come up with a descriptive or original name, so instead, they just referenced some other animal.

At some point, I almost convinced myself that it would be a good idea to publish a coffee table photo book just showing Red-billed Oxpecker on various animals. So far we have seen Impala, Duiker, Greater Kudu, Mongoose, Zebra and warthogs around the neighborhood, and yard. Just stepping away from the birds for a minute, because you can’t really do any kind of story about Kruger National Park, and not at least mention the animals. The African Fish Eagle was a great first day bird.

People have moved useful plants and animals around with them as long as they had the wit to do so. So that New Zealand would end up with quite a few species of animal not originally found here is hardly surprising of itself. In many ways, that is exactly what happened.
