Given that many Chinese do not hold Japan in very high regard, it makes sense that the Chinese name of the Japanese Thrush is Wuhuidong, “Black Grey Thrush” Though this does not quite seem to capture the beauty of this species, making it sound rather bland. According to the HBW, they mainly eat fish.
