Because I've been thinking about the evolution of my own thinking--and languaging--regarding animal rights. Both animal rights groups and animal welfare groups use "compassion" frequently. Then again, so do people who kill animals for a living. First there's "What constitutes psychological harm?"

How ridiculous is it that " On the Psychological Continuum ," to say nothing of an article against rabbit fur, is on the same page as Gabriella's Fur Den? The ads I see today have nothing to do with animal cruelty--the opposite is true. I may have just gotten myself fired from Animal Rights Zone.

There is no philosophical continuum, but there is a psychological continuum, as evidenced by everyone at the workshop taking steps back or forward, denoting their increase in animal use (including no meat to meat, or backsliding, like I did a decade ago), or their decrease (such as when vegetarians go vegan). KBJ: Nobody in the animal-rights or animal-liberation movement views intelligence as a morally significant property, at least intrinsically. Would these animals also be exploited? To be sure, we would be using the animals and in this sense would be exploiting them. So it is still morally wrong to eat their meat.
