Are groundhogs considered pests?

​ Note: here in South America there are no groundhogs, we have a relative but he lives in dry sand and is the size of a guinea pig submitted by /u/roxgxd [link] [comments] I've seen that groundhogs destroy crops with their holes but I don't know if they are considered a pest despite being so cute.

I hope that the next time it will vocalize for me; it apparently sounds something like a grunting pig. However, there is no mistaking the male Red-headed Tanager with any other species.

Hoary Marmots , also called Whistle Pigs , inhabit rocky areas near the treeline in northwestern North America up into Alaska. And marmots, of course, are nothing but pretentious groundhogs, so the name Whistle Pig seems like an extremely fair appellation.
