Simply put, wilderness areas are the most protected public lands in America. And it prohibits human infrastructure, e.g. , roads, buildings, dams, and pipelines, etc. But the true reward will be some of America’s most remote, spectacular, and pristine natural areas. The longer answer is below.

European Storks are majestic, they’re graceful and stately and all of the positively connotated adjectives that are applied to birds to which humans have a long and pleasant history rooted deep in our western cultural heritage. This begs the question, how did the Wood Stork end up in the Americas with relatives so far away?

There are the endemics, which are odd in their own way, and then there introduced species, which are so varied in their type and origin that you get the feeling you’ve arrived at the aftermath of a small zoo that escaped. What is surprising is quite how many species did end up here, and how economically unimportant they were.

How far is the closest human settlement? Does the word define a species within country terms, regional terms etc? Is the term defined at the sub-species or full species level in terms of classification? The species must be restricted to an internationally recognized country, island or island group.

Just to be clear, as the main demographic reading here is from North America, this is the Soccer World Cup. Below are a few suggestions of sites within the city that can easily be reached using public transport. Open from dawn to dusk 7 days a week, it has an eBird hotspot list of 79 species from 16 submissions.
