Birds of the Northern Forest – An homage

10,000 Birds

Ever since I was a kid I wanted to learn how to draw, but alas I never made it past the stickman. More precisely I wanted to learn how to draw wildlife. A self-taught Canadian wildlife artist, he has been fascinated by birds from childhood – their physical charm, their voices, their intriguing habits.

Where have they gone?

10,000 Birds

The Winter Gull Survey (WinGS) will run over the winters of 2023/24 and 2024/25 to collect updated information on the numbers and distributions of these wintering gulls in the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. Nitin hopes to enlarge his collection of photos of Tigers. Further down the road, we reach a derelict building with a large veranda hidden among the trees – an abandoned hunting lodge (if I were in a situation to invest, I would choose to upgrade this into a luxury wildlife lodge).

Roadside Birding and Flathead Lake

10,000 Birds

We stayed at the Yellow Bay Biological Research Station, a cozy collection of buildings located, logically enough, on a slope overlooking a bay lined with yellow sandstone on the eastern shore of the lake. Alas, my hoped-for Tundra Swan did not materialize despite the proximity of Swan River National Wildlife Refuge.

Brazil’s Pantanal: A Birding Spectacle

10,000 Birds

Among birders, wildlife photographers, and nature enthusiasts, it is renowned for its incredible concentrations of birds at the end of the dry season. The star of such huge concentrations is the massive Jabiru , towering over a diverse collection of South American waterbirds such as Sunbittern , Plumbeous Ibis , and Southern Screamer.
