Around 12 million animals are used each year in the European Union (EU) for research purposes. This became clear from a report addressed at the European Parliament (EP) session on May 5–7, which seeks to vote on a directive concerning animal research. I really hope this passes.

It's a TLC show about humans that adopt monkeys and treat them as their children. Monkey business is big business in the United States, where some people pay up to $5,000 to adopt a monkey of their own, often a capuchin monkey, which can grow up to 22 inches and 9 pounds. This is seriously weird stuff. Remember Travis? Who suffers?

The Great Elephant Census found that populations of Savanna Elephants Loxodonta africana have fallen by 30% between 2007 and 2014 (around 144,000 animals poached or population shrunk at a rate of 8% a year, a level higher than their reproduction rate; source https://peerj.com/articles/2354.pdf I say they were butchered, face-off.

They are all wonderful people and they are all animal lovers. But I’ve learned we love animals in very different ways. And if a feral cat colony is near an endangered species, the colony should be eliminated. “Why can’t the kittens be adopted,” I asked in her comments section.

An Animal Person reader wrote me with the following question: There are many species of cichlids in Lake Victoria that are on the verge of extinction, and most are hardy and small enough to be kept in an aquarium. The answer to that question could, for some, be dependent upon whether the endangering is our doing.
