Photographer Mark Ross has captured some truly beautiful, and touching, photos of animals abandoned at kill shelters. The book is a great reminder that our decision to adopt them is the difference between life and death. The photos in the book made me want to reach out and save each one of them.

The road was new, the only sign of the recent times were bullet holes in a few abandoned houses, but that was a rare sight. A few days after my trip, a news item in the local media attracted my attention: near Sarajevo, a father and a son got killed while cutting firewood in a minefield. Hence, I had to adopt a new one.

Animals in the tri-state area are euthanized daily, rescue groups are unable to save as many lives as they wish, and animals spend years in boarding kennels while awaiting adopters to fall in love with them. For an adopter, it makes the process a little easier. Consider adopting. Many of these boarding animals are forgotten.
