Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan

10,000 Birds

On the first trip in 2012 we used public transport to get there and the train conveniently gets you to Macarthur Square shopping centre and you can then get a bus that drops you right at the entrance to the park. We encountered one crossing the road in 2012, but with the cooler weather this year there was less turtle activity.

Birding Gunung Gede on a weekend without suffering a mental break-down, part 1

10,000 Birds

I was very fortunate to visit the park twice, once in April 2012 and just recently in November 2013, and can fully confirm that the birding is epic. At first I was really irritated by the crowds, by their noise and to some extend their littering. Even if you think the people are ruining your birding day, they are not.

Sassafras Gully Loop

10,000 Birds

Ferns were prominent and it was very easy to walk quietly due to all of the damp leaf litter. We walked on for another hour and our last new bird for 2012 that day was a Fan-tailed Cuckoo as we left the trail and headed back to Springwood train station. The gully was really quite steep in places. In the gully!
