Well, basically it is a good area for putting a nest as there is ample food nearby and the dunes offer protection and good views of incoming predators. In 2009 they laid two clutches of two eggs, but they were all predated. Why would Pied Oystercatchers been keen to use an area with all this activity?

The relatively sheltered and safe locations have allowed the colony to prosper and grow. The spikes in the image below were added to all window ledges, I think in 2009. They are a unique asset to be celebrated and protected in the same way as say the Ravens at the Tower of London.

Every day myself and other 'friends' went out of our way to terrify the poor helpless dog that used to live in this filthy run down shed for shelter. ARAN works with volunteers, activists, members of the public and other animal protection groups. They don't say: you want protection and I want rights, so I want nothing to do with you.
