New Big Day Record Broken for Costa Rica!

BUT, if you think that’s a lot of birds, just hold your horses for the crazy avian ride carried out by a four birder team in Ecuador. It was wonderful to see that they hit more than 350 species in Costa Rica because I have known that this was possible since I started looking into Costa Rican Big Day routes in 2009.

When I was asked if I wanted to read Jeff Corwin's 100 HEARTBEATS (Rodale 2009) I was ambivalent. For only $450,000, we could buy almost all of the habitat neded to protect Ecuador's remaining frogs. I know he's a conservationist, therefore I know he will advocate for "managing" the "resources" that are sentient nonhumans.

But I did chase one back in 2009 that I dipped on. The first, back in 2009, was when I was in Honduras. American Dipper – Yes, I have seen Brown Dipper in Kazakhstan and White-capped Dippers in Ecuador but somehow I am missing the only dipper found in the United States, the American Dipper.
