The steeply declining number of whales in the world's oceans is causing the remaining creatures to suffer loneliness and 'lose the will the live', a leading expert has claimed. Almost One-Third of Japanese Whale Kill Was Pregnant

Of 679 whales reported to have been killed during the 2008-2009 whale hunt in Antarctica, 304 were female. Four of the female whales were lactating, and 192 were pregnant at the time of death. Tags: whales Japan hunting whaling. Leave it to the Japanese. Always classy. From Wildlife Extra.

An Amazing Boat Ride from Santa Cruz Island to Ventura Harbor

The last time I was out there was in January of 2008 and Daisy and I had really enjoyed both the boat ride and the island itself. It took me awhile, but I managed to get on quite a few, especially when the boat slowed down to go check out some Humpback Whales and a huge number of Common Dolphins. Sharks, Cape Fur Seals and even Killer Whales will prey on them in the ocean. From 1978 to 2008 the Namibian population declined from 12,162 pairs to 4,563 pairs. Obviously, the penguins are more vulnerable on land, hence their propensity to nest on offshore islands. In 1979 the South African population was estimated at 56,900 pairs.
