I was returning from Rockport, Maine, having retrieved my daughter Skye and her friend Bau-Hien from a photography workshop. On our way home, the three of us were planning to stop for a cruise near Hog Island , the famous Audubon camp. En route, the teenagers were chatting away when suddenly I screamed “Eagles!” This is only a partial list.

But, from the existing data, the authors have drawn a different conclusion – there is no proof that the breeding population ever existed, that the south of Africa was beyond the species range and that that all observations were of vagrant individuals.
