PETA put up a billboard in Florida that says "Save the Whales, Lose the Blubber: Go Vegetarian". I think they are right to be angry. If they want to play up the health aspects or weight loss aspects of vegetarianism, that's fine. Tags: PETA. On it, is an overweight woman standing on a beach. And rightly so.

New Book on Animal Rights Activism

One guy runs Vegan Outreach and the other is a VP at PETA (they have those?). The most constructive part of the book (and possibly the most shocking to those who are only peripherally familiar with the vegetarian movement and who might therefore expect radicalism) is the authors' discussion of tolerance in all activities.

She's supposedly a vegetarian and is friends with Walk the Line co-star Joaquin Phoenix who is a huge animal rights activist and vegan. PETA is very happy. I don't know what she's going to do with it, but at least she'll stop carrying it. I still don't understand what she was doing.
