Long story short, I know someone interning at a wildlife sanctuary. The conditions at the internship are honestly terrible and it has me digging into the morality of this place. Basically the locals started feeding dangerous wildlife causing them to come dependent on the food. Something just doesn’t seem right.

Tell me, what happens if we rip away hunting when hunting protects more wildlife land in Africa than national parks? Although lip service was paid to the fact that lions are endangered and a lion was poached, the language of anger was the language of animals rights. This is of course an anathema for many in the animal rights camp.

The other up-side is the possibility of making a quick detour to one of Costa Rica’s best (and only) shorebird spots, the salt ponds at Punta Morales. We might not have wildlife refuges but we do have the Cocorocas salt ponds! After the stop at Morales, it was onward to Canas on my quest for ducks.

With four days to go in 2018, why not try for a few more, right? It just would not have been possible with our her determination, organization, foreign language skills, money management, incredible bird spotting ability (even at 70+ MPH) and her moral support that kept me going when I was at my most tired.

of Fish and Wildlife Commissioner Jon Gassett has indicated that if enough people write in protest, the proposed hunting season–due to start this December– will be reconsidered. Hunting is on a steady downturn, and nonconsumptive wildlife pursuits are on a tremendous upswing. We can fight them back in Kentucky, too.
