Legend has it that anyone who kills one of these pigeons will go blind – for once, a superstition I highly appreciate and which I wish we could expand to all other bird species as well. We will establish a series of online workshops, trainings, and seminars for young women. I did not actually go to Afghanistan for birding.

Want to Go Bird Banding in Amazonian Peru?

I recently heard from Chris Kirkby, the Managing Director and Principal Investigator at Asociacion Fauna Forever , a Peruvian not-for-profit organisation based in Lima and Puerto Maldonado, about a series of bird-banding workshops being held this June and November in the rainforests of Tambopata in south-eastern Peru. Wicked, right?

Birding Sarajevo or the sentimental journey home

Lake Apopka – Florida’s Inland Rarity Hotspot

The high nutrient loading led to massive and unprecedented algal blooms which in turn killed productive plants and changed the once crystal-clear lake into pea soup. The fact that the lake is situated right in the middle of the state means that it can be seen by a large portion of the migratory flocks that pass over florida twice a year.
