So far this year poachers in Kenya have killed 128 elephants for their ivory; last year 98 were killed. In July, Kenyan authorities intercepted 16 elephant tusks and two rhinoceros horns being illegally exported to Laos from Mozambique.

The Lesser White-fronted Goose is one of the most threatened waterfowl species of the Western Palearctic, with illegal killing being the most important threat globally. Circling the lake anticlockwise, the northern shore was the least productive, but the western dyke (the northern half of the west shore) with 45 species was very good.
