Growing up in central Oregon, allowed me to experience such a diverse amount of habitat, and the wildlife that resides there. The other remarkable success story of Hart Mountain is the return of the Desert Bighorn Sheep. The population is now estimated to be at over 500. I guess they were the greeters! I feel like I am home.

My fiance and I drove nearly two hours to the Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Area in rural Indiana to watch them come in for the evening. I was fortunate to rack up a number of lifers in 2013, both at home and abroad ( Varied Thrush in Washington, Brewer’s Blackbirds in California, Burrowing Owl in the Nevada desert).
