This was only my second time ever to observe this subspecies (the first time was here as well), two other subspecies I have observed in India. They may have been disturbed by the presence of hunters in the Danube backwaters. The only wildcat I found was illegally killed by hunters during closed season.

He started working on Birds and People in January 2007, according to the book’s web site, and the project ultimately took six years.
