Birders and hunters usually share the same conservation goals and sometimes work together to advance them. Most hunters follow them, but there are always a few bad apples. This was only my second time ever to observe this subspecies (the first time was here as well), two other subspecies I have observed in India. They may have been disturbed by the presence of hunters in the Danube backwaters. The only wildcat I found was illegally killed by hunters during closed season.
