Claim 1: A gorilla can definitely kill any animal below 400 lbs easily and still put up a good fight for those above that weight class The truth: Forest leopards in Africa are known to kill gorillas, and while rare, the current record is skewed heavily in favor of the leopard coming out the better in these encounters.

Seals can mimic humans, you've heard of Crows and Parrots mimicing human speech but Seals can to, one Harbor seal named Hoover was able to mimic his owners voice and could say stuff like "Get over here!" " Which was similar to what their leader would say for them to get out of the water.

At 8am on Tuesday 30th August 2012, we arrived at Leeudril after leaving nearby Tweerivieren camp and were thrilled to spot a young female Leopard next to the water tank. You can notice in the above images how the Leopard uses her eye-lids as hoods to protect her sensitive eyes from the bright sun as she sprinted towards us.

They are not necessarily the biggest African animals, but represented those that were considered a real hunter’s worthy prey or “game” – the African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Black Rhinoceros, Leopard and king of the jungle, the Lion (which of course doesn’t inhabit jungle but savanna!). They live for up to 100 years.

We also were amazed by the sheer volume of road kill we saw, something that Anthony detailed in his blog post , which I highly recommend you read, about the day. Well, it was beautiful to humans in those conditions but apparently not for a kingbird, which took advantage of the break in the cool and rainy conditions to skedaddle.

And the two species were not inclined to get on, by which I mean that Lions will kill other large predators including Painted Wolves. There are a lot of reasons why Painted Wolves are struggling, and many of them are human caused. And Pippa, our biologist, was very concerned. Her concern was well founded. Emaciated, broken but alive.

Today, there are more than 3,000 birds at this accessible colony and they are protected by fences and stiff fines for human disturbance. Remarkably, this growing colony suffered severe losses from a leopard that habitually came down from the mountains to feast on the easy penguin snacks.
