An Unfortunate Pewee

The condition this bird is suffering from is avian keratin disorder, I believe. I think the modified Clark’s Nutcracker looks pretty rad, but the American White Pelican is a major bummer. The bird was unable to close its bill any more than you can see here.

Bird-watching from the bitumen

Sloppy edges if you leave the bitumen Bitumen suffering from wet weather It is about 45 kilometres from town to the Roebuck Plains area and the crossing is approximately 12 kilometres long. Magpie Geese are also here in the hundreds and that is only what we can see from the bitumen!

The Kerkini Lake, Greece: Dipped One, Got One

Among them are Dalmatian Pelicans , so big and lazy. We are approaching a large mudbar with some more Dalmatian Pelicans… and a flock of geese… dark, round-headed and short-billed, elongated white blaze on their faces – threatened and declining Lesser White-fronted Geese ! Should I add, a lifer, too.

White-necked Heron Little Egret Australian Pelicans have arrived to feed on the fish and can be observed very close to the highway. Australian Pelican Glossy Ibis Most of the Magpie Geese families have moved away from the highway now, but there are still some close to the fence-line. All three species of Ibis are now present.
