Fish and Wildlife Service. Not only were they a common bird, they were a common bird nearshore; indigenous peoples hunted them up and down the coast. On the short list of wins for wildlife during the Bush II era, Short-tailed Albatross were officially listed as Endangered in 2000. Somebody won a Nobel Prize.
