That’s a threatened habitat, and one much sought after by wildlife enthusiasts. This is the place, after all, that people see Sunda Clouded Leopards! Two highlights of the walk back were a bright green Greater Green Leafbird and a Lesser Fish Eagle following the road above our heads. Oh, there were Buffy Fish-owls.

Hornbills are spectacular under any circumstances, but when a pair lands in a bush beside you at eye-level and begin mutual preening , it makes for a spectacular experience. My fiance and I drove nearly two hours to the Jasper-Pulaski Fish and Wildlife Area in rural Indiana to watch them come in for the evening.
