Coincidentally, last night was a board meeting for our homeowner's association, and though I wasn't on the agenda there's always time for homeowner comments about, say, the petting zoo and pony rides that are scheduled for the spring "BBQ" ( here 's part one of this story). And there's not much from the health angle for pony rides.

This was illegal, because according to FWC regulations, if you already own a pet that has been deemed invasive or illegal, you are allowed to keep it until its natural death, and it will not be confiscated or euthanized. Reptiles that are not treated ethically simply do not make good pets.

All animals except the dog are called "it" (I did a little experiment to see what would happen). We need language that doesn't support a divide between "pet" animals and everyone else. Tags: Books Ethics Language parenting publishing speciesism veganism. Meanwhile, the lizard has a male name so you'd think he'd be called "he."

It’s the bane of many rehabbers that they simply can’t get through to cat owners on this critical issue of free-roaming pets. If the experience of handing over that box can be transformative instead of alienating or shaming, there’s a possibility of change. Beloved family pet Dalmatian, Pepper, is stolen, and after several weeks of searching is discovered to have been experimented on at a hospital and died on the table when researchers tried to implant her with an experimental cardiac pacemaker. By the end of my time as researcher, I was performing behavioral experiments on humans.
