My family and I enjoyed the Corn Hill Festival this weekend, which is definitely one of Rochester’s better events. Either of the two was his Best Bird of the Weekend because when endangered species reproduce that is always the best! The closer to the poles you live, the more likely you lustily embrace this season.

Endangered and awesome, it’s pretty easy to experience this big parrot in the Pacific lowlands of Costa Rica from Tarcoles north to near Nicaragua. A serious world mega and even more so because this species is truly scarce and without a doubt, truly endangered. Yellow-naped Parrot. Bare-necked Umbrellabird.

She is an excellent mother, managing not only to feed her four large cubs, but their visiting father One-eyed who comes by every now and then (he has two more families and being the good father he is, visits them all regularly, usually around lunch time). Both Puerto Rico and the USVI have active birding communities that are currently excluded from full membership in the ABA family. All Americans Should be Full Members of the ABA Family. Adding Puerto Rico and the USVI would largely achieve the goal of bringing all Americans into full membership of the ABA family.
